pH Levels and Digestion
Good and balanced health means you have to take some responsibility for your health. It can’t be left completely to your health care practitioner. Your practitioner will not do your shopping with you or stop you from drinking that one glass of wine too many – or the cream cake. “You get the picture.”
Buy yourself ph paper and check your saliva and urine to help keep the right levels. You can read more about this in my previous posts.
PH controls everything in your body so its crucial what goes in your mouth determines what the reading will be. Remember too what goes in the mouth is directly tied to your digestion. Does feeling bloated and gassy after a meal ring any bells?
You’re probably wondering what has it got to do with your digestion. Indeed why do you need the digestion to be balanced? You may think – I eat, my stomach feels fine. I eliminate well –(incidentally – men seem to do this much easier than women. My theory is women tend to hold on emotionally to things more then men which effects bowel movement as well).
Well the deal is this: from the minute you put food into your mouth to when it leaves your lower bowel, processes and occurrences that you probably think nothing about could be having tremendous impact on your health depending on what you’ve eaten and how long it takes to leave your gut – in my practice as a colon hydrotherapust I see people in my clinic with transmission time of 6 hours, 24 hours to 72 hours and longer. Colon hydrotherapy has been given some bad press over the years. This is usually from ignorant physicians or lay person who have no knowledge of how valuable this treatment can be.
The following book is a must read on this topic. I think Dr Young is one of the leading naturopaths out there, especially his work on pH levels and green foods. I’ve followed his plans myself and use his method on my retreats and in my practice.
